Beaches & Sun

As the tenth place in the world in international tourist arrivals, Mexico offers its visitors the best in beaches. In 2009, 21.4 million international tourists seemed to agree as they visited Mexico to enjoy a little sun, while the expectations for 2010 predict that visitor numbers will reach the 22.6 million.

Puerto Vallarta
Crystalline waters and fine sand lead body and mind to a place of no routine or worry in Puerto Vallarta. Visitors will find the ultimate fusion of traditional Mexican culture with the finest of beachfront resort living. Main sun and beach attractions include Los Muertos Beach and Las Caletas, nestled in the nature preserve of Banderas Bay. Whale watching and other water adventures are popular here.

Golfers will find courses designed by Jack Nicklaus and Tom Weiskopf, among the seven championship layouts in the area. Puerto Vallarta's climate makes golf a year-round option here. Meanwhile, art and music abound in the city, with live concerts, beachfront sculpture displays and other exhibitions and performances in the sun.

As the largest port on Mexico's Pacific coast, Mazatlan is known as "The Pearl of the Pacific." More than just a sun and beach destination, this cultural attraction is the best complement of more than six miles of beaches that are ideal for surfing and diving, as well as natural features and stupendous golf courses with ocean views to the Pacific. Two modern marinas in Mazatlan offer sport fishing on the Sea of Cortez, also known as "the world's natural aquarium."

Mazatlan combines its modern hotels in the Zona Dorada with its charming historic center and boardwalk, featuring open-top taxi rides. Located opposite the Zona Dorada and the Hotel Zone is the Three Islands, an attraction as well as a symbol of Mazatlan. These islands offer quiet soft sand beaches that can be reached by boat.

With the second largest coral reef in the world, Cozumel offers a land and sea experience unlike any other. Water sports such as sport fishing, kayaking, kite boarding and windsurfing are available, while scuba diving and snorkeling hold a special title here. The clear waters offer visibility of up to 200 feet.

The center of the island is mostly undeveloped jungle and lagoons with many endemic species of small animals and birds – perfect for exploring. The National Reef Marine Park and the Eco-Archeological Park are both perfect ways to spend a day. Chankanaab Lagoon offers a natural aquarium with more than 60 species of tropical fish, crustaceans and corals, and Chankanaab National Park showcases botanical garden featuring uncountable tropical plants. If clients are just looking for the tranquility of a beach, send them to Punta Sur Park.
